NEW YORK- JetBlue (B6) announced the expansion of its transatlantic routes with the launch of new, nonstop flights to Edinburgh (EDI) from New York (JFK), starting May 22, 2024.

The daily summer-seasonal service will run from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Edinburgh Airport (EDI) through September 30, 2024. “JetBlue has revolutionized transatlantic travel by offering low fares and great service in markets previously dominated by high-fare legacy carriers,” said Marty St. George, president of JetBlue. “We are excited to connect Scotland and the Northeast this summer with our award-winning Mint and core services, bringing the unique JetBlue experience to Edinburgh.”

John Lamont, UK Government Minister for Scotland, added,

“Our relationship with the US is special, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors to Scotland and the wider UK from North America each year. The US is also our top export market. This new direct JetBlue route from Edinburgh to New York City will strengthen ties between our two countries. Last month, I participated in the Tartan Day celebrations in Manhattan, promoting our key exports and rich culture. This flight route will make it easier for US visitors to explore our unique destination and for Scots to visit the Big Apple and beyond.”

“I’m delighted to see JetBlue’s new Edinburgh to New York JFK flight take off, enhancing Scotland’s direct connectivity to the US and strengthening important business, export, and tourism links,” said Connectivity Minister Jim Fairlie.

“This is JetBlue’s first time serving Scotland, showcasing their confidence in our market. It also bolsters Edinburgh Airport’s case for establishing a U.S. pre-clearance border facility, making travel more seamless and benefiting Scottish businesses and visitors. I wish Edinburgh Airport and JetBlue every success with this new service, which will surely be welcomed by travelers in both Scotland and the US.”

“We are thrilled to welcome JetBlue to Scotland with this new direct service. North America is our most valuable international visitor market, with record levels of demand and nearly one million visitors last year, surpassing pre-pandemic levels,” said Malcolm Roughead, Chief Executive of VisitScotland.

“Visitors are drawn to Scotland for its dramatic landscapes, rich history, and culture, with Edinburgh offering a well-connected gateway for exploring the rest of the country. These visitors, who often stay longer and spend more, are crucial to Scotland’s tourism industry and economy, supporting businesses, jobs, and communities. Making it easy for people to visit with direct access is key. We are delighted to work with JetBlue to promote this new service and encourage more US visitors to choose Scotland for their next vacation.”

“We are excited to see JetBlue add Edinburgh Airport to its fast-growing European network. Transatlantic travel from Edinburgh has been a success, and adding more capacity to New York strengthens travel options between Scotland and the USA,” said Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport.

“It’s always great to welcome a new airline to Edinburgh, and we look forward to seeing JetBlue’s passengers and new colleagues in Scotland’s capital.”
