Delta Add New Routes to West Coast and More

ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) has enhanced its connectivity to the West Coast of the United States by adding new routes from its hub and the World’s Busiest International Airport.

Major US carrier has added two new routes and reinstated three routes from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on Friday (June 7, 2024).

Delta West Coast Routes

Now let’s begin with the new routes first, Delta announced this route last year in September and has now added non-stop them from Atlanta to:

  • Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT)
  • Santa Barbara Airport (SBA)

Delta’s flight DL561 from Atlanta to Fresno is the longest direct flight from FAT.

The flights to Atlanta will cover nearly 2,000 miles, making them the farthest-reaching eastbound service from Fresno, surpassing United Airlines (UA)’ seasonal flight to Chicago, which spans 1,750 miles.

Furthermore, the new ATL-FAT flight operated by Boeing 737 aircraft will help passengers explore different destinations in central San Joaquin Valley to the East Coast, Latin America, Europe, and Africa.

According to Delta, Fresno is a major gateway to famous scenic destinations such as Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, and the Sierra National Forest.

Now let’s dive into Santa Barbara’s Mediterranean climate, Spanish-style architecture, and idyllic beaches.

Delta flight DL720 from Atlanta to Santa Barbara received a warm welcome at SBA Terminal in a special launch ceremony. This is also the longest route from SBA. Further, the route made a record and is historical as it is the first time that such a long flight has launched from SBA.

Delta deploys Airbus A220 to serve this route. Along with Santa Barbara Atlanta, the airline also resumed twice-daily flights from Salt Lake City (SLC) to SBA.

With these two connections, airport officials state that US travelers now have access to over 35 domestic and 30 international destinations with only just one layover.
