Delta Rome to Atlanta Flight with A350 Makes Emergency Landing in Dublin

DUBLIN- Today (July 21, 2024), Delta Air Lines (DL) flight from Rome (FCO), Italy to Atlanta (ATL) makes an emergency landing at Dublin (DUB), Ireland due to medical issues onboard.

But it faced another serious issue as it made a heavy landing at Dublin. A source reported that Flight DL215 might have experienced a tire burst upon landing at Dublin.

Delta Flight Emergency Landing at Dublin

According to Shauns Aviation, the reputed Aviation Journalist who posts news and incidents from Dublin Airport reported that “DL215 / DAL215 from Rome to Atlanta Is currently diverting to Dublin Airport due to a Medical Emergency.”

He further added, “They have requested Rescue Vehicles due to a heavy landing, there is a risk of breaks overheating.”

While he has no confirmation on the tire burst he stated there is the possibility of it.

Now I have confirmation, no tire burst.

Now let us determine the flight details using FlightRadar24 data. The Delta flight DL215 took off from Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport in Rome at 11:52 AM UTC. It was scheduled to land at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 3:10 PM local time.

However, following the medical emergency onboard, the flight crew decided to divert to Dublin. The aircraft was above the Atlantic Ocean but near to Irish coast.

The flight landed safely at Dublin Airport at around 3:22 PM UTC. Shauns Aviation reported that the aircraft taxied to stand 315C.

The flight was operated by Airbus A350-900, registered as N574DZ. The aircraft is 5.5 years old and is powered by RR Trent XWB engines.

Similar Incident

Last month, Delta flight DL67 from Rome to Atlanta was also diverted to Dublin due to a Medical emergency. It was operated by Airbus A330-900 aircraft.

Based on Google flight data, Delta Air Lines operates twice daily flights between FCO and ATL. It deploys A350 and A330 to serve this route.

Both flights recently experienced delays and cancellations due to various reasons.
