The deal, classified as a “very substantial acquisition” under Hong Kong Stock Exchange rules, surpasses the 100% threshold for applicable percentage ratios. However, it falls under the Qualified Aircraft Leasing Activity category, exempting it from certain regulatory requirements.

The new aircraft’s deliveries are scheduled between 2028 and 2031. The board has confirmed that the transaction meets all necessary qualifications and adheres to normal commercial terms. They assert that the deal’s conditions are fair, reasonable, and beneficial to the company and its shareholders.

This acquisition aligns with CDB Leasing’s strategy to optimize its fleet structure. By increasing its holdings of cutting-edge aircraft, the company aims to enhance its competitive position in the global aircraft leasing market.

The announcement comes at a time when the aviation industry is focusing on modernizing fleets with more efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft. The Boeing 737-8, part of the 737 MAX family, offers improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared to previous generations.
