Air Canada Adds 3 New Routes from Vancouver to Tampa, Raleigh and Nashville

MONTREAL- Canadian Flag carrier Air Canada (AC) has unveiled its most extensive transborder schedule from Vancouver International Airport (YVR), introducing three new routes and expanding service to key US destinations.

The airline will add direct flights to Tampa (TPA), Raleigh (RDU), and Nashville (BNA) while increasing capacity to Austin (AUS), Denver (DEN), and Miami (MIA).

Air Canada New US Routes

In partnership with United Airlines (UA), Air Canada will operate up to 58 daily non-stop flights to 21 US destinations next summer, representing an 11% increase in seat capacity compared to the summer of 2024.

The expanded network will provide approximately 7,700 seats, offering travelers unprecedented connectivity between Canada and the United States.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning, emphasized the strategic importance of the expansion. “These new flights reinforce Air Canada’s leadership in transborder travel, connecting fast-growing metropolitan areas and sought-after destinations,” he stated.

The network expansion supports the airline’s sixth-freedom strategy, efficiently linking North America with international destinations across the Asia-Pacific region.

Vancouver International Airport’s President and CEO, Tamara Vrooman, highlighted the significance of the new routes. Notably, this marks the first direct connection between YVR and Raleigh-Durham, a region known for its research, education, and technology sectors.

The new routes will provide travelers with increased flexibility and access to diverse destinations.

Other Executive Remarks

Air Canada’s new nonstop service to Vancouver provides strategic connectivity for the Research Triangle region, according to Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. The route directly links RDU with a top unserved international destination, offering convenient connections to Asia and Western Canada.

Royce Chwin, President & CEO of Destination Vancouver, emphasized the critical importance of air service to the city’s global positioning. The new Air Canada routes strengthen Vancouver’s status as a premier international gateway, driving tourism, hospitality, and business opportunities across the region.

Walt Judas, Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism Industry Association of British Columbia, highlighted the significance of these routes for the province’s economic landscape. With the United States representing the largest international market, the expanded direct routes promise substantial benefits for diverse market segments, including cruise, leisure, business, tour, meetings, and events sectors.

The new transborder flights are strategically designed to optimize international network connections. Travelers will benefit from seamless routing, with the added advantage of U.S. customs pre-clearance during Canadian connections, significantly reducing arrival processing time for U.S.-bound passengers.
