Air Canada Casablanca to Montreal Flight Cancelled Amid Attendant’s Rude Behavior

MONTREAL- Flag carrier Air Canada (AC) flight AC73 from Casablanca (CMN) to Montreal (YUL) faced an unexpected turn of events on July 26. The incident unfolded as the plane was taxiing for takeoff.

Air Canada Flight Attendant Outburst

The trouble began when a passenger asked for a blanket due to cold cabin temperatures. This request sparked tension, causing the flight attendant to yell at passengers in both French and English. She warned against bullying her crew and demanded good behavior from everyone.

The situation escalated quickly. The flight attendant called local police to remove the passenger who asked for the blanket. In a show of solidarity, other travelers chose to leave the plane as well.

Air Canada made the decision to cancel the flight following these events. The airline is now investigating the incident to understand what happened and why.

Air Canada’s flight AC73 was set to use a 23-year-old Airbus A330-300. This aircraft, registered as C-GHLM, has a seating capacity of 297 passengers. It includes 32 business class seats, 24 premium seats, and 241 economy seats. The plane runs on two Rolls-Royce (RR) Trent 772B-60 engines.

Air Canada (AC) is poised to transform travel between Canada and Singapore by introducing the inaugural direct flight route from Vancouver to Singapore this week.

Flight Rescheduled

After the cancellation, Air Canada rescheduled the flight for the next day. The replacement flight, AC2073, took off on July 27 at 15:08. It completed the journey across the Atlantic Ocean in seven hours and 11 minutes, landing in Montreal at 17:19.

The airline has not disclosed whether the flight attendant involved in the incident was part of the crew on the rescheduled flight. This information remains unknown to the public.

On this route, Air Canada faces direct competition from Royal Air Maroc (AT). The Moroccan airline offers two daily flights between Casablanca and Montreal. Royal Air Maroc uses a mix of Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft for these flights.
