Possible Reason

According to an Aviation A2Z source, the probable reason for leasing 777 from another carrier is the grounding of some widebody aircraft in the Air France fleet.

A source revealed to us that 3 Airbus A330s are currently in maintenance; they have registration F-GZCI, F-GZCF, and F-GZCO. Furthermore, three A350s are also under maintenance, while one is stored after an incident in Canada.

According to Planespotters.net, as of May 2024, Air France has a fleet of 218 aircraft. Out of these, 189 are in operation while 29 are grounded for various reasons.

We found out that Air France has 63 777s including 17 777-200s, 38 777-300ERs, and 2 777Fs. One 777-200 and 5 777-300ERs are under maintenance.

At last to conclude, by partnering with EuroAtlantic Airways, Air France can provide continued service on this popular route while maintaining the high standards of comfort and quality that passengers have come to expect.
