Air India Express Adds New Flights to Dhaka from Chennai and Kolkata

GURUGRAM- Air India Express (IX) will expand its flights to Dhaka (DAC), Bangladesh, starting September 3, 2024. The airline will operate six weekly flights connecting Dhaka to both Kolkata (CCU) and Chennai (MAA), enhancing connectivity between India and Bangladesh.

Bookings for these new routes are now open on Air India Express’s website, mobile app, and other major booking platforms.

Air India Express Dhaka Flights

The airline offers introductory Xpress Lite fares: Kolkata-Dhaka at Rs. 3,443, Dhaka-Kolkata at Rs. 4,609, Chennai-Dhaka at Rs. 4,796, and Dhaka-Chennai at Rs. 7,223.

This expansion provides one-stop connectivity to Dhaka for passengers from various Indian cities, including Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Imphal, Jaipur, Surat, and Varanasi. Conversely, Dhaka residents gain easier access to these Indian destinations via Kolkata or Chennai.

Kolkata emerges as Air India Express’s third-largest station, offering 158 weekly flights connecting to 13 direct destinations and 20 one-stop destinations. Chennai serves as another key hub with over 85 weekly flights, linking 13 direct destinations and 24 one-stop destinations.

Air India Express recently added Agartala as its 32nd domestic destination, providing daily direct flights to Kolkata and Guwahati.

The airline offers additional benefits for loyalty members booking through its website or app, including exclusive discounts, NeuCoins rewards, and complimentary priority services. Special fares are available for students, senior citizens, SMEs, and Indian armed forces personnel and dependents.

Air India Express also introduces Xpress Lite fares for passengers traveling with cabin baggage only, available exclusively on the airline’s website.

CEO Remarks

Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, emphasizes the significance of these new routes. He states that the flights will provide more convenient travel options, infused with Indian hospitality, fostering stronger regional ties and improving accessibility within the subcontinent.

The new services are expected to benefit various sectors. They will support trade and tourism between India and Bangladesh, facilitating economic growth and cultural exchange.

Additionally, the flights will assist Bangladeshi patients seeking medical treatments at specialty hospitals in Chennai and Kolkata, improving access to healthcare services.

Air India Express’s expansion also creates new travel opportunities for passengers. The Dhaka flights will offer connections to the airline’s services to the Gulf region, expanding options for international travel.

Furthermore, passengers can access Air India’s (AI) long-haul international flights, creating a more comprehensive travel network.
