Air India Inaugurates New Flights between Mumbai and Vijayawada

MUMBAI- Tata-owned Indian FSC, Air India (AI), has launched a direct daily service between Vijayawada (VGA) and Mumbai (BOM), enhancing their network connectivity in Andhra Pradesh.

A special ceremony was held at the Vijayawada Airport, Domestic Terminal at Gannavaram, to celebrate the inaugural flight. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Machilipatnam Shri Vallabhaneni Balashowry and the Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Vijayawada Shri Kesineni Sivanath.

Air India Mumbai and Vijayawada Flights

The inaugural flight to Mumbai departed after passengers were greeted and felicitated by Air India’s on-ground staff and airport authorities.

This direct service addresses a long-standing need, improving the connection between Vijayawada and Mumbai.

Operated by an Airbus A320 family single-aisle aircraft, flight AI598 will depart Mumbai at 15:55 hrs, arriving in Vijayawada at 17:45 hrs. The return flight AI599 will leave Vijayawada at 19:10 hrs, landing in Mumbai at 21:00 hrs.

Passengers can take advantage of convenient international connections to destinations in the UK, North America, Dubai, and Singapore, as well as to over 45 domestic destinations.

Strengthening Presence in Bengaluru

Last week, we reported Air India Express (IX) is launching a direct and first international flight from Bengaluru (BLR) to Abu Dhabi (AUH).

According to the AIX booking page, the airline will operate 4X weekly flights between two cities. They will fly on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. These are some of the busiest days for travel when catering to leisure travel.

Air India Express flight IX811 will take from Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru at 15:25 and arrive at Zayed International Airport, Abu Dhabi at 18:00. All times are local.

Subsequently, the return flight IX812 will depart from AUH at 18:55 and will arrive at midnight in BLR at 12:40 AM.

The Indian low-cost carrier plans to deploy Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to serve the four hours of flight time and 1,701 miles (2,737 kilometers) of distance between BLR and AUH.

Further, Air India recently announced the launch of a new flight between Bengaluru and London Gatwick (LGW) on August 18, 2024.

Apart from this, the Gurugram-based carrier plans to expand its capacity on flights to Sri Lanka starting July 2024 by introducing Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner service for two months.
