Air New Zealand Bali Flight

Air New Zealand is offering special sale fares to Bali starting at $699 one way to celebrate the introduction of year-round flights. Sales are until June 25, 2024, unless sold earlier.

Leanne Geraghty, Air New Zealand’s Chief Customer and Sales Officer, says providing year-round flight options reflects Bali’s popularity as a holiday destination.

Bali has become increasingly popular among Kiwi holidaymakers. With its diverse offerings—from culture and incredible food to surfing, relaxation, and adventure—expanding our Bali services made sense.”

As the only airline providing a direct connection between Aotearoa and Bali, Kiwis can fly directly to Bali without a stopover, even for Christmas or New Year holidays. They can enjoy warm weather and long balmy nights with direct flights.

With more than 800 seats available in Bali each week between November and February, there are more options to explore the popular Indonesian islands and all they offer.

Bookings to Bali have been strong since we relaunched our seasonal service in March 2023. This year’s seasonal flights have proven even more popular, with thousands of Kiwis booking Bali breaks over the last few months.

Air New Zealand’s Bali service schedule:

  • April to end of October: 5 to 7 flights per week
  • November to mid-February: 3 flights per week
  • Mid-February to end of March: 2 flights per week
AirAsia Indonesia Launches Flights To Cairns, Bringing A World of Asian Travel Gems Within Easy Reach For Far North Queenslanders

AirAsia Indonesia Bali to Cairns Flight

Flights between Cairns and Bali connect to the extensive AirAsia Group network, which includes seven airlines under the AirAsia brand and serves over 130 destinations in Southeast Asia and beyond.

To celebrate the new route announcement, special launch fares are now available starting at AUD$159* from Cairns to Bali. These can be booked via the AirAsia website or the AirAsia Move app.

AirAsia Indonesia CEO Veranita Yosephine expressed excitement about the airline flying to Far North Queensland for the first time.

Cairns offers our guests from Bali and across Asia breathtaking scenery, including the world famous Great Barrier Reef, ancient rainforests, unique culture, delicious seafood and more.

At the same time, Asia is a top destination for Australians offering unique experiences at affordable prices.  While Bali remains one of Australia’s favourite leisure destinations, we aim to promote the many other undiscovered Asian wonders. Residents of Cairns and surrounding cities like Mackay and Townsville can now not only fly to Bali on AirAsia at great value fares, but also access over a hundred destinations in the AirAsia Group network via a short stopover in Bali, as a gateway to key AirAsia hubs including in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Indonesia alone has so many emerging gems for Queenslanders to experience including the world famous Labuan Bajo (Komodo Island) – home of the Komodo Dragon, Tanjung Setia Surf-Beach in Lampung and the New Capital of Indonesia, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan. This new route is also an important low cost entranceway to more leisure and adventure across Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, India, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, South Korea and other popular destinations across our Group network. Starting with three weekly services, we hope to grow the number of flights in the future, based on demand.”

Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana, strongly supported the new services.

We greatly appreciate Indonesia AirAsia’s efforts in supporting the growth of the tourism industry while expanding connectivity between Indonesia and Australia through direct flights connecting Bali with Cairns, two favourite tourist destinations for Australian travellers. In 2023, Indonesia welcomed approximately 1.37 million Australian tourists, showcasing the strong interest of Australian travellers in Indonesia and the appeal of Bali as their primary destination. With this new route, we are confident that the relationship between Indonesia and Australia will be strengthened, and it will also provide opportunities for tourists from Cairns to explore other destinations beyond Bali.”

Tourism Minister Michael Healy remarked, “It’s terrific to see the AirAsia stable expanding to Cairns.”

Further, the Cairns Airport CEO Richard Barker noted that the new service would provide numerous connections across Asia.

AirAsia has never flown to Cairns before and we look forward to welcoming these services in August. This announcement is great news for locals, with more flights to Bali. Importantly, this service will also open up one-stop, low fare travel to Tropical North Queensland from some of the largest nations in Southeast Asia, on an airline that is well known in those markets.

These flights will provide direct connectivity from Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and domestic Indonesia, including Jakarta and Surabaya, via Denpasar to Cairns.

The service will inject more than 28,000 seats into the Cairns market in the first year.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland CEO Mark Olsen welcomed the route, highlighting its role in connecting Australians to emerging tourism hubs within Southeast Asia.
