Akasa Air Will be in Top 30 Airlines in the World List by 2030: CEO Vinay Dube

MUMBAI- India’s youngest and greenest carrier, Akasa Air (QP) marks its second anniversary with ambitious growth plans, according to founder-CEO Vinay Dube. In a message to employees, Dube projected Akasa’s ascent into the top 30 global airlines by 2030.

Despite facing Boeing delivery uncertainties, Akasa has secured a firm order for 226 MAX aircraft within 17 months of starting operations, an unprecedented achievement for an Indian airline. This order positions Akasa Air for rapid expansion in the coming years.

Akasa Air Celebrates 2nd Anniversary

The airline currently operates 24 aircraft and employs nearly 800 pilots. However, Boeing’s last MAX delivery to Akasa occurred in February, raising concerns about future fleet growth.

Pilots have expressed worries about slow training programs and reduced flying hours, impacting their earnings. Dube addressed these issues in a Town Hall meeting with pilots on Wednesday.

Akasa is evaluating Boeing’s delivery capabilities and considering alternative options to maintain its growth trajectory. The airline, initially funded by late investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, commenced operations on August 7, 2022, with its inaugural flight from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.

In its two-year existence, Akasa has transported over 11 million passengers. The airline claims to have achieved triple-digit growth, positioning itself as the fastest-growing airline in global aviation history.

Fastest Growing Airline

Founder and CEO Vinay Dube highlights the airline’s success in redefining air travel while maintaining reliability, service excellence, and affordability.

In the past year, Akasa has consistently led India’s aviation industry in on-time performance. The airline boasts the highest operational reliability and the lowest rates of customer complaints and flight cancellations among its competitors.

Akasa’s workforce has grown to over 4,000 employees, whom Dube credits for the airline’s accomplishments. Their dedication and passion have been instrumental in reaching these milestones.

The airline’s network now spans 22 domestic and five international cities, operating more than 900 weekly flights. This expansion demonstrates Akasa’s rapid growth and increasing presence in both domestic and international markets.
