According to Flight Radar 24 data, American Airlines flight AA293 took off from Delhi at 7:02 PM UTC. After being airborne for around nine hours, the flight crew declared an emergency.
At that time, AA293 was flying over the North Sea and decided to divert to London for better handling of the medical issue onboard.

The flight operated by an 11.2-year-old Boeing 777-300ER, registered as N723AN landed safely in London at around 5:27 AM UTC.
American Airlines is yet to issue a statement regarding this unexpected diversion.
More details regarding the exact medical issue are not known yet. However, we will keep you posted once we have more information about the incident, so stay tuned and keep checking back for updates.
Fort Worth-based carrier operates daily flights between New York JFK and Delhi using Boeing 777 fleet. However, the airline is planning to deploy Boeing 787 on long-haul routes operated from JFK. So AA will operate 787-9 on the JFK-DEL route from October 2024 onwards.
In a separate incident on AA293 in Jan 2024, the flight faced a biohazard situation as lavatories on board began overflowing with sewage, causing it to spill into the cabin.
Despite this, AA continued the 17-hour journey for more than 10 hours with four lavatories flooded with sewage.
