“American Airlines is proud to offer unparalleled access to some of the most popular European vacation destinations from Philadelphia, our transatlantic gateway,” said Lakshman Amaranayaka, American Airlines Vice President of PHL Hub Operations.

“We are honored to expand our network with these three popular European destinations for our customers to enjoy this summer. I extend my gratitude to our team of 8,600 Philadelphia-based employees, whose efforts are the reason for our continued growth at PHL.”

The new service to Copenhagen (CPH) will operate daily from Philadelphia (PHL). Additionally, the airline inaugurated service to Naples, Italy, on June 5, and Nice, France, on May 6.

This summer, American Airlines will offer more than a dozen nonstop flights to 14 European destinations, providing customers with direct access to Europe’s rich culture and history.

“We’re excited about American’s nonstop service to Copenhagen from PHL due to its benefits for our passengers, city, and service area,” said PHL Airport CEO Atif Saeed.

“This flight connects travelers to two UNESCO World Heritage Cities and has the potential to generate millions of dollars for our region while supporting full-time, part-time, and seasonal jobs across various industries.”

During the summer season, American Airlines intends to expand its operations at the Philadelphia hub significantly.

It plans to operate over 300 peak-day departures, serving nearly 3.5 million customers from PHL between May 17 and September 3. Compared to last summer, the airline aims to provide 23% more seats during this period.
