Avelo Airlines Opens its New Aircraft Base at Sonoma County Airport in California

SAN FRANCISCO- Avelo Airlines (XP) marked a significant milestone today with the launch of its 6th aircraft base at the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (STS), effectively doubling its route network from this renowned Bay Area airport.

The airline also introduced service to four new destinations from STS: Portland/Salem, Oregon (via SLE); Boise, Idaho (via BOI); Tri-Cities/Pasco, Washington (via PSC); and Kalispell, Montana (via FCA).

Avelo Airlines New Aircraft Base

Avelo already operates flights from STS to Los Angeles, California (via BUR); Las Vegas, Nevada (via LAS); Palm Springs, California (via PSP); and Bend/Redmond, Oregon (via RDM).

Founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, Andrew Levy, expressed his enthusiasm, stating,

“We are thrilled to commemorate the launch of our 6th base and the introduction of four exciting destinations from STS. Sonoma County Airport holds a special place in Avelo’s journey, as it was the destination for our inaugural flight on April 28, 2021. This new base not only signifies a significant advancement in our expansion but also highlights our dedication to offering affordable, convenient, and dependable service to travelers in the Bay Area. We eagerly anticipate welcoming both new and returning customers from the Bay Area and making it even simpler for travelers from these four locations to explore California Wine Country.”

Avelo Crewmembers and representatives from STS airport celebrated the inauguration of the new flights with a gate-side event for Wednesday morning’s first flight to Kalispell.

Subsequently, the Customers were greeted with local favorites from the four new destinations and received a commemorative boarding pass upon boarding.

With the opening of the new base, Avelo has recruited 32 STS-based Crewmembers, the term the airline uses for its employees. This includes flight attendants, pilots, and maintenance technicians.

Further, Avelo anticipates employing approximately 50 STS-based Crewmembers by the end of this year.

Exclusive Routes

Avelo is the exclusive airline providing direct flights between STS and these four destinations:

  1. Kalispell, Montana via Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) – The inaugural flight takes off today, May 1, 2024, with service available twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  2. Pasco/Tri-Cities, Washington via Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) – The first flight departs today, May 1, 2024, with service offered twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  3. Boise, Idaho via Boise Airport (BOI) – The maiden flight is scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2024, with service operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.
  4. Portland/Salem, Oregon via Salem Municipal Airport (SLE) – The inaugural flight sets off on Friday, May 3, 2024, with service available twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays.
