British Airways Inaugurates New Route from London to Izmir, Turkey

LONDON- UK flag carrier, British Airways (BA), made a maiden flight BA694 from London Heathrow (LHR) Terminal 5 to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), Turkey on May 18, 2024.

Izmir, a city on Turkey’s Aegean coast, is renowned for its sandy beaches and rich archaeological and historical heritage.

British Airways Inaugurates London to Izmir

Izmir is the fifth Turkish destination on the British Airways network, joining Istanbul, Antalya, Bodrum, and Dalaman.

According to British Airways’ official press release, the return fare for this London-Izmir route starts at £146.

Furthermore, the 50-year-old carrier deployed a 10-year-old Airbus A320 for this maiden flight. The aircraft is registered as G-EUYV.

The flight was flown by senior British pilot Ryan Clyde and Captain James McKeown and they are shown in the feature image.

Subsequently, the arrival of this maiden flight was celebrated by a cake cutting ceremony and the Izmir airport official handle wrote,

“We continue to add new destinations to our international British Airways commenced İzmir- London scheduled flights! With flights scheduled on Saturdays, you can directly fly İzmir from to London.”

Other New or Relaunched Routes

Apart from the London-Izmir flight, the BA launched some other routes to summer destinations.

BA launched a flight from London to Kos (KGS), Greece, which boasts stunning sandy beaches and clear blue waters, providing a tranquil getaway where you can relax and soak up some much-needed vitamin D.

Furthermore, British Airways for the first time has chosen London Stansted Airport (STN) to offer scheduled flights after the pandemic.

1) Florence, Italy :

Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance. The city’s iconic Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral contributes to its rich artistic and cultural atmosphere.

British Airways will offer weekend flights to Florence, departing on Sundays, in addition to regular flights from London Heathrow and London City Airport.

Return flights start from £82.

2) Ibiza, Spain:

Ibiza caters to both party enthusiasts and those seeking a quiet family holiday on its northern coast. The island promises a blend of fun and relaxation.

British Airways will provide weekend flights to Ibiza, departing on Sundays, along with regular flights from London Heathrow, London City, and London Gatwick.

Return flights start from £72.

3) Nice, France:

With its beautiful architecture, beaches, and stunning views, Nice is ideal for a weekend getaway or a summer holiday. London Stansted will offer weekend flights to Nice, departing on Sundays, alongside regular flights from London Heathrow, London City, and London Gatwick.

Flights will be available from £86 return.
