China Eastern Venice Flight

China Eastern Airlines operates the new service using an Airbus A330 aircraft, scheduling flights thrice weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Qin Yun, Shanghai Airport Authority chairman, anticipates the direct flight will boost personal, economic, and trade exchanges between China and Italy.

Wan Qingchao, China Eastern Airlines’ vice general manager, notes China’s visa exemption policies have stimulated these exchanges. By September’s end, the airline had established four routes between the two countries, aiming to enhance connectivity between China, Italy, and Europe.

China’s tourism sector is experiencing a rapid resurgence in both inbound and outbound travel.

Shanghai’s Pudong and Hongqiao airports now connect to 112 international airports across 48 countries. In the first eight months, they handled over 83 million passengers, with outbound and inbound passengers reaching nearly 23 million, marking a 119 percent year-on-year increase.

The new route, operated by China Eastern Airlines, cuts journey duration from 20-24 hours to approximately 12 hours.

Passenger Remarks

An Italian passenger praised the convenience of the direct flight, noting it eliminates the need for transfers in France or other Italian cities. A Chinese traveler surnamed Huang, and her friends chose this inaugural flight for their first Italian trip, with Venice as their initial stop.

The A330 aircraft servicing this route offers high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi, enabling passengers to stay connected throughout the journey. This feature enhances the travel experience and caters to the needs of modern travelers.

China’s recent visa-free policy for short stays, applicable to Italian citizens, has further stimulated international travel.

China Eastern Airlines has established four routes between China and Italy, strengthening connections between the two countries and with central European regions.
