Delta and Aeromexico adding New Routes between Mexico and the US

ATLANTA- Delta Air Lines (DL) is expanding its reach into Mexico, offering travelers more options for winter getaways. The airline is launching new routes from Detroit (DTW) to Tulum (TQO) and Los Angeles (LAX) to Mazatlán (MZT), catering to the growing demand for Mexican destinations.

Delta’s commitment to the region extends beyond its own flights. Its partner, Aeromexico (AM), is introducing new services from Atlanta to Manzanillo and Newark to Mexico City. These additions reflect Delta’s strategic focus on strengthening its presence in the Latin American market.

Delta Mexico Routes

The expansion represents a significant 7% increase in Delta’s seat capacity in Mexico, demonstrating the airline’s response to rising customer demand. This move aligns with the ongoing trend of travelers seeking international experiences after periods of restricted movement.

Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, emphasized the driving force behind these new routes. “Our customers are consistently expressing their desire to explore the world,” Esposito stated.

He highlighted Mexico’s popularity among U.S. travelers, noting that the country’s rich cultural heritage continues to be a major draw.

Mazatlán, featuring a historic Old Town and coastal attractions, becomes Delta’s 20th international destination from LAX. Delta and its partners maintain their position as the largest international carriers at this airport, operating 32 peak-day international flights.

Delta’s partner Aeromexico is launching flights to Manzanillo from Atlanta on November 2 and from Los Angeles on December 21. Manzanillo offers travelers access to scenic beaches and tropical landscapes along Mexico’s Pacific coast.

Delta is also expanding its Mexican network with new flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Mazatlán and Tulum, and increased service from Atlanta to Tulum. These additions reflect Delta’s strategy to enhance its presence in key Mexican markets.
