Edelweiss Air Launching Zurich to Seattle and Halifax Flights with A340s

ZURICH- Edelweiss Air (WK) announces new flights from Zurich (ZRH) to Seattle (SEA), USA starting June 2, 2025, and to Halifax (YHZ), Nova Scotia, Canada from July 3, 2025.

With this new announcement, Edelweiss now serves 7 destinations in North America. This includes Calgary, Denver, Halifax, Las Vegas, Seattle, Tampa Bay, and Vancouver.

Edelweiss Air Seattle Flights

The twice-weekly service will use an Airbus A340-300, featuring 314 seats across three classes.

Flights depart Zurich on Fridays at 1:00 PM, arriving in Seattle at 2:50 PM, with return flights on Saturdays departing Seattle at 4:25 PM and landing in Zurich at 11:45 AM the next day.

The 5,260-mile journey takes 10 hours 50 minutes westbound and 10 hours 20 minutes eastbound. Edelweiss’ A340-300 configuration includes 27 business class seats, 76 premium economy seats, and 211 economy class seats, with premium economy uniquely positioned ahead of business class.

Edelweiss Air, a Lufthansa Group member, and SWISS’ (LX) leisure subsidiary, operates both short and long-haul flights. The airline has a All-Airbus aircraft fleet of 19 aircraft including 14 A320s and 5 A340s with an average fleet age of around 20 years.

The airline plans to gradually replace its A340 fleet with Airbus A350s starting in 2025, aiming for complete A340 retirement by 2027.

Lufthansa (LH) currently operates flights to Seattle from both Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUC), while Condor (DE), another German carrier, also flies the Frankfurt-Seattle route.

Seattle, known as the “Emerald City,” offers visitors a blend of urban attractions and natural beauty. The city is renowned for its tech industry, hosting giants like Microsoft and Amazon, and its musical heritage, including grunge bands Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

Halifax Flights

Edelweiss Air expands its North American network by introducing non-stop flights from Zurich to Halifax. The flight takes 7 hrs and 30 minutes and will operate every Thursday and Sunday from July to early October. This seasonal route enhances connectivity between Switzerland and Atlantic Canada.

Halifax, Nova Scotia’s capital, boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage. Key attractions include the historic Citadel, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and a scenic waterfront promenade. The city serves as a gateway to explore Nova Scotia’s diverse landscapes and experiences.

Travelers can access Cape Breton Highlands National Park’s hiking trails, pristine beaches, and quaint fishing villages from Halifax. The region offers outdoor adventures and cultural immersion opportunities. Autumn visitors witness a spectacular foliage display, with forests transforming into vibrant hues from golden yellow to deep red.

Atlantic Canada’s appeal extends beyond Halifax, featuring stunning landscapes, maritime culture, and renowned seafood cuisine.
