High-ranking officials from both companies and Saudi Arabia’s aviation authority witnessed the signing. flynas Chairman Ayed Al Jeaid and CEO Bandar Almohanna represented the airline, while Airbus’s Commercial Aircraft CEO Christian Scherer attended for the manufacturer. Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation chief, H.E. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, was also present.

The new planes will join flynas’s existing all-Airbus fleet, serving domestic, regional, and international routes. The A330-900s will feature a two-class layout, carrying up to 400 passengers each.

flynas CEO Bander Almohanna praised the new Airbus deal, highlighting the A320neo Family’s operational and environmental benefits. He emphasized how these aircraft will enhance the airline’s low-cost travel offerings. Almohanna also noted that the A330neo will boost flynas’s long-haul capabilities, supporting both the airline’s growth plans and Saudi Arabia’s pilgrim program.

Airbus Commercial Aircraft CEO Christian Scherer expressed enthusiasm about expanding their partnership with flynas. He pointed out that the A330neo will allow flynas to grow into widebody markets, building on their A320 experience. Scherer highlighted the commonality between the two aircraft types, which offers flynas versatility and economic advantages as they expand into new markets.

A330-900 to Open New Markets

flynas expands its fleet with A330-900 aircraft, boosting its growth strategy. The airline expects major efficiency gains by combining these widebody planes with its A320neo fleet. A330-900s offer more capacity and range at competitive costs, strengthening flynas’ position in the growing regional market.

The A330neo, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, features new wings and aerodynamic improvements. These upgrades cut fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by 25% compared to older rival aircraft. The plane can fly 8,150 nautical miles non-stop, providing superior comfort with more space, modern lighting, advanced entertainment systems, and full cabin connectivity.

Airbus designed the A330 family to use up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The company aims to make its aircraft 100% SAF-capable by 2030, aligning with global efforts to reduce aviation’s environmental impact.

This fleet expansion positions flynas to compete more effectively in long-haul markets. It also supports Saudi Arabia’s goal to boost its aviation sector and increase tourism. The A330-900’s efficiency and range open new route possibilities for flynas, potentially connecting Saudi Arabia to more distant destinations.
