ABU DHABI- India’s largest carrier, IndiGo Airlines (6E) has strengthened its international connectivity by launching new international flights from Mangaluru (IXE), Coimbatore (CJB), and Tiruchirappalli (TRZ) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) this month.
Gurugram-based carrier operates 89 weekly non-stop flights to Abu Dhabi (AUH) from 13 Indian cities.

Abu Dhabi-Mangaluru Flight
Mangaluru International Airport has expanded its international connectivity by launching a new daily flight to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in partnership with IndiGo Airlines. The inaugural flight took off on August 9, marking Abu Dhabi as IndiGo’s second overseas destination from Mangaluru after Dubai.
The maiden flight, IndiGo 6E1442, departed at 9:40 PM with 180 passengers onboard, captained by Viqar Yaseen. Young Nandika V, accompanied by her mother, became the first passenger to check in for this historic flight.
This new route strengthens Mangaluru’s air links to the Middle East, with Abu Dhabi now served by two daily flights. Air India Express operates the other daily service to the UAE capital.
The airport celebrated the launch with a traditional water cannon salute for the incoming IndiGo flight 6E 1443 from Abu Dhabi on August 10. An MIA spokesperson emphasized the significance of this new connection, stating it demonstrates the strong collaboration between the airline and airport operator while providing easier global access for the region’s residents.
Mangaluru International Airport now boasts connections to eight Middle Eastern destinations and six domestic locations. This expansion aligns with the airport’s strategy to enhance its role as a key gateway for coastal Karnataka.
Abu Dhabi-Coimbatore Flight
The inaugural flight received a traditional water cannon salute upon arrival at Coimbatore International Airport.
The airline will operate three weekly flights on this route, scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
- Flight 6E1498 from Abu Dhabi to Coimbatore departs at 12:55 AM and arrives at 6:25 AM.
- The return flight, 6E1497, leaves Coimbatore at 7:40 AM and reaches Abu Dhabi at 10:00 AM.
This new service brings the total number of international flights from Coimbatore to three. Air Arabia already operates direct flights to Sharjah, while Scoot connects the city to Singapore.
Local pilots Vivek Kandasamy and Vinoth Kumar Chandran operated the maiden flight. Before takeoff, Kandasamy made an announcement in Tamil, revealing IndiGo’s plans to seek slots for flights to Colombo and launch a service to Singapore starting October 28.
Abu Dhabi-Tiruchi Flight
IndiGo expanded its international operations from Tiruchi on Sunday, August 11, 2024 (Today), launching flights connecting the city to Abu Dhabi. This new route marks IndiGo’s second overseas destination from Tiruchi International Airport.
The inaugural flight from Abu Dhabi landed in Tiruchi at approximately 6:30 a.m., carrying 166 adults and three infants. Airport authorities welcomed the aircraft with a traditional water cannon salute. After a brief turnaround, the return flight departed for Abu Dhabi at 7:30 a.m. with 180 adults and four infants on board.
IndiGo will operate this route four times a week, with flights scheduled on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
- The Abu Dhabi to Tiruchi leg departs at 00:55 a.m. and arrives at 6:30 a.m.,
- while the return flight leaves Tiruchi at 7:30 a.m., reaching Abu Dhabi at 10:00 a.m.
