JetBlue Receives Lisbon Slots, New Flights from Boston, and More

NEW YORK- JetBlue (B6), one of the leading low-cost airlines in the United States, has been making some strategic moves recently. From gaining slots in Lisbon (LIS), Portugal, to announcing new flights from Boston, the airline is set to offer more options for travelers in the coming months.

JetBlue Lisbon Airport Slots

Last year, a New York-based carrier requested 840 slots at Lisbon Airport (LIS) for Summer 2024.

The summer 2024 travel season runs from March 31 to October 26, and JetBlue’s request for 840 slots would allow for two daily takeoffs and two daily landings. This slot has been approved by Lisbon, reported Ishrion A.

Earlier this year, the US DOT approved the TAP Air Portugal (TP) proposal to expand its codeshare with JetBlue for operating flights between the United States and Europe.

The two airlines began codesharing in 2016, connecting TAP Air Portugal’s flights to New York JFK and Boston Logan International Airport, two of JetBlue’s major hubs.

TAP has submitted an application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) seeking approval to expand its codeshare operations. This expansion would allow TAP to display JetBlue’s “B6” designator code on TAP-operated flights to and from the United States.

New Route

In another update, JetBlue has announced that it will no longer schedule Embraer 190 flights from New York’s JFK Airport after April 30, 2025.

This move aligns with the airline’s E190 retirement timeline. However, passengers flying from Boston can still enjoy around 20 daily E190 flights as of May 2025.

JetBlue is all set to launch a new route from Boston (BOS) to Presque Isle (PQI), starting September 5. The daily E190 flights will offer passengers convenient travel options between the two cities. The new route is expected to provide a boost to both leisure and business travelers.
Flight Details:

  • Flight B6206 will depart from Boston at 8:45 PM and arrive at Presque Isle at 10:10 PM.
  • Flight B6207 will depart from Presque Isle at 5:45 AM and arrive back in Boston at 7:10 AM.

Maiden Flight to Tulum

Earlier this week JetBlue Inaugurated a non-stop flight from New York to Tulum (TQO), Mexico. This daily service marks JetBlue’s third destination in Mexico, alongside Cancun and Los Cabos.

JetBlue’s expansion into Tulum supports its commitment to offering customers more choices and more international destinations to explore.

By the end of 2024, JetBlue aims to serve 40 international destinations across Europe and South America.

JetBlue will operate the New York-Tulum route using its Airbus A320 aircraft, providing the airline’s award-winning service, which includes the most legroom in coach, fast, free, and unlimited broadband Fly-Fi, complimentary name-brand snacks and drinks, and seatback entertainment at every seat.

The new Tulum service builds on the success of JetBlue’s extensive offerings from nearby Cancun.
