Pakistan Int’l Airlines to Restart Paris and UK Flights After 4 Years of Ban

KARACHI- Pakistan International Airlines (PK) is preparing to relaunch direct flights to the United Kingdom (UK) starting August 14, marking a significant milestone after a hiatus of four years.

This announcement brings a ray of hope for Pakistanis residing in the UK and Europe, offering them convenient and direct air connectivity to their home country.

Pakistan Airlines to Restart Europe Flights

A spokesperson for PIA expressed optimism that the airline would receive phased approvals from the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) this month.

During a recent meeting with the Council of Economics and Energy Journalists, the spokesperson outlined the airline’s expansion plans.

Upon obtaining the necessary approvals, Pakistan Airlines, shortly abbreviated as PIA, intends to resume services to Paris next month.

The spokesperson emphasized that PIA has expedited maintenance work on its Boeing 777 aircraft fleet to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational readiness for European and UK routes.

Abdullah Hafeez, the spokesperson, highlighted that PIA currently operates seven 777 aircraft, with plans to introduce two additional planes into service within the next two months.

Furthermore, Hafeez mentioned that PIA has air service agreements in place with an impressive 97 countries, facilitating seamless travel and fostering trade links worldwide.

Crucial Meeting on May 14

In the meantime, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) review board is scheduled to convene on May 14, 2024, to discuss the potential lifting of the ban on European flights operated by Pakistani airlines, including PIA, reported Samaa TV.

A senior-level delegation led by the aviation secretary is set to depart for Brussels on Sunday to attend this crucial meeting.

During the gathering, reports detailing audits conducted on critical civil aviation and PIA sectors will be presented to the IASA review board.

Additionally, it has been noted that the Civil Aviation Authority has successfully cleared the Universal Aviation Security Audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Furthermore, the CAA has achieved favorable results in evaluating key areas of its operations by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. Aviation insiders have indicated optimistic prospects for lifting the ban on Pakistani airlines.
