Qantas Adds 70 New Items in Menu for Domestic Flights

SYDNEY- Qantas (QF), Australia’s flag carrier, unveiled a comprehensive menu overhaul for its domestic Boeing 737 and Airbus A330 flights. The airline will introduce more than 70 new items across six mealtimes: breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper.

This extensive update aims to enhance the customer experience and differentiate Qantas from its competitors in the domestic market.

Qantas New Domestic Menu

The refreshed menu emphasizes local Australian produce, supporting regional suppliers and showcasing the nation’s culinary diversity. New offerings include the DreamTime Tuka Macadamia Granola Slice and Fine Fettle Farmhouse Crackers with whipped feta dip and carrots.

These additions reflect Qantas’ commitment to promoting Australian businesses and flavors.

Qantas has retained its popular Lindt Lindor chocolate balls, acknowledging customer preferences. The airline served over 2.8 million of these chocolates on domestic flights last year, demonstrating their significance in the passenger experience.

The menu update aligns with the Qantas Group’s broader sustainability initiatives. The company, which includes low-cost carrier Jetstar (JQ) and regional airline QantasLink (QF), is investing in sustainable aviation fuel development and waste reduction strategies.

Passengers will notice an increase in sustainable food packaging as Qantas collaborates with suppliers to implement eco-friendly alternatives.

The airline’s mainline aircraft, including 75 Boeing 737-800s and 26 Airbus A330s, will feature these new culinary options.

Qantas executive manager of product and service, Phil Capps, stated: “Customer feedback drives continuous menu refinement, elevating our in-flight dining. We’ve introduced premium hot dishes featuring quality Australian ingredients, expanding options across our domestic network.”

For dessert, travelers can indulge in a dark chocolate sour cherry fondant cake.

Qantas has also expanded its beverage selection, introducing Campari and Starward Whiskey to cater to diverse tastes.

The economy cabin sees equally impressive additions. New items include a focaccia with chorizo, pesto, bell peppers, and Mewrdeith Goats Cheese, and a cheese board featuring Australian salt bush chili jam sandwich.

Vegetarian options have been expanded with cottage cheese and spinach samosas. Sweet treats now include a triple choc brownie cookie and a macadamia granola slice.

Qantas maintains its position as the only domestic Australian airline offering complimentary food, beverages, checked baggage, and onboard WiFi in economy on its Boeing 737s and Airbus A330s.

The menu refresh follows a May 2023 update where Qantas improved its snack offerings on flights exceeding two hours, responding directly to customer feedback.
