Qantas Olympic Livery

Qantas Boeing 787 Dreamliner will carry 450 Olympians and 170 Paralympians from Perth Airport (PER) to Paris (CDG) on a direct flight, slightly shorter than the 17-hour Perth to London (LHR) route that Qantas operates.

The Olympic Games will commence on July 26, followed by the Paralympics on August 28.

The Sydney-based carrier invited its pilots to express their interest in flying the plane to Paris and back. Five-time Olympian Melissa Wu shared with 9News that the jet’s unveiling has heightened her excitement for Paris 2024.

“Having just completed our Olympic trials and then learning I made the team, the excitement is building now. I can’t wait,” Wu said.

60 Years of Partnership

For over 60 years, Qantas has been deeply involved with the Australian Olympic Team and proudly serves as the Official Airline of the team.

Qantas first flew the Australian team to the post-war Olympic Games in 1948, transporting them to the London Olympics. The journey aboard the Constellation aircraft took four days and required nine fuel stops.

Further, the Athletes were served some of Australia’s earliest frozen food meals, a Qantas innovation introduced post-war after establishing its frozen food processing facility in Rose Bay, Sydney.

As the world’s second oldest airline, Qantas celebrated its centenary in 2020. Founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, Qantas is now Australia’s largest domestic and international airline and is recognized as one of the leading distance airlines worldwide, pioneering services from Australia to North America and Europe.

The Qantas Group employs over 20,000 people and operates a fleet of nearly 300 aircraft. With safety and service as core priorities, the Group transports over 50 million passengers annually. In Australia, the Qantas Group operates approximately 6,600 domestic flights and 930 international flights weekly. Furthermore, with the support of codeshare and oneworld partners, the Group offers travel to more than 1,000 destinations.

Qantas continues to champion the spirit of Australia with a long-standing commitment to inclusion and diversity, reconciliation, and supporting regional Australia.
