Qatar Airways CEO Helps American Woman Board flight to New York in Business Class

DOHA- An American entrepreneur recounted the story of his younger sister, who secured a business class ticket out of Doha after encountering the CEO of Qatar Airways (QR) at the airport.

In a post on the social media platform X, Paul-Bernard Jaroslawski explained that his sister was trying to fly from Doha (DOH), Qatar to the United States with a standby ticket, but had been unsuccessful.

A standby ticket allows a traveler to wait at the airport and board a flight if a seat is available after all confirmed passengers have boarded but does not guarantee a specific seat.

Jaroslawski mentioned that despite available seats on a flight from Doha to Chicago (ORD), the airline refused to accommodate more passengers due to weight management issues, leaving his sister unable to depart.

A similar situation occurred when Jaroslawski’s unnamed sister attempted to board a flight to Washington DC. “At the gate for the flight to DC, the Qatar Airways employees told her the same thing: they weren’t allowing any more passengers due to weight management,” wrote the American founder of FreightCaviar on X.

At this point, Jaroslawski’s sister was feeling anxious, nervous, and worried. As she stood dejectedly under the departure screens, pondering how to reach the US, her luck changed.

“A man approached her and asked why she was so sad. My sister explained the entire situation,” wrote Jaroslawski. The man instructed her to wait in the business class lounge and assured her that things would be resolved.

The stranger turned out to be Badr Mohammed Al Meer, the CEO of Qatar Airways.

Badr Mohammed Al Meer kept his promise and arranged a business class ticket to New York City for Jaroslawski’s sister.

Lucky Encounter

As she boarded the flight, a Qatar Airways employee remarked that she was “very lucky” because the CEO rarely walked around the airport as he had that day.

“Incredible the power some people hold in this world. With a snap of a finger, everything went from sour to super sweet,” Jaroslawski wrote in his X thread on June 19.

The story reached thousands of people, who marveled at the woman’s fortune. “Great story. Inspiring,” commented one person. “Let it be a reminder to do something nice for someone today,” said another. “Amazing,” added a third person.
