Spirit Airlines Adds 3 New Routes and Suspends Some Flights

FLORIDA- In a move to expand its route network, Spirit Airlines (NK) has announced the addition of three new routes while also suspending or canceling several existing routes.

These changes are set to take effect after early September, giving travelers more options for their journeys, reported Ishrion Aviation.

Spirit Airlines New Routes

  1. Dallas (DFW) to Houston (IAH): Spirit Airlines will begin operating two daily flights between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. This route is sure to be popular among both business and leisure travelers looking for convenient travel options between these two major Texas cities.
  2. Reno (RNO) to Los Angeles (LAX): Travelers looking to explore the bright lights and glamour of Los Angeles can now do so with ease, thanks to Spirit Airlines’ new daily flights from Reno-Tahoe International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport. This route opens up a world of possibilities for those seeking a taste of Hollywood.
  3. Rochester (ROC) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL): For travelers in upstate New York, Spirit Airlines’ new daily flights between Rochester and Fort Lauderdale provide a convenient way to escape the cold winter months and soak up some sun in sunny Florida. Whether it’s for a weekend getaway or an extended vacation, this route is sure to be popular among Rochester residents.
DFW-IAH operates 2x daily, and RNO-LAX and ROC-FLL are 1x daily. All three begin on August 14.

Suspended Routes:

  1. Los Angeles (LAX) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL): Unfortunately, travelers looking to fly between Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale will no longer have the option to do so with Spirit Airlines as this route is being suspended. Passengers will need to explore alternative airlines for their journey between these two popular destinations.
  2. Newark (EWR) to Oakland (OAK) & Phoenix (PHX): Spirit Airlines will also be suspending its flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and both Oakland International Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Travelers will need to make alternative travel arrangements for these routes after early September.
  3. San Juan (SJU) to Fort Myers (RSW) & Tampa (TPA): Spirit Airlines’ routes between San Juan and both Fort Myers and Tampa are also among the routes being suspended. Passengers will need to look for alternative options for their travel between these destinations after the changes take effect.

DFW-IAH operates 2x daily, and RNO-LAX and ROC-FLL are 1x daily. All three begin on August 14.

With these new routes and the suspensions of certain existing routes, Spirit Airlines is aiming to optimize its route network and provide travelers with a wider range of choices for their journeys.
