Turkish Airlines Inaugurates New Flights Between Denver and Istanbul

DENVER- Tuesday evening marks the inaugural departure of Denver International Airport’s (DEN) lengthiest flight by Turkish Airlines (TK) to date—a nonstop journey from Denver to Istanbul (IST).

Announced by airport authorities in April, the new Turkish Airlines route will transport travelers from Colorado to Istanbul, spanning a distance of 6,130 miles. Surpassing the previous record, the flight to Tokyo, which covers 5,788 miles in approximately 12 hours, this new route is anticipated to take around 13 hours.

Turkish Airlines Denver to Istanbul Flight

According to airport officials, this collaboration with Turkish Airlines is forecasted to generate an annual economic impact of over $54 million for Colorado, along with the creation of approximately 350 new job opportunities.

The maiden flight is scheduled for departure from Denver at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, as indicated on Turkish Airlines’ booking platform.

Turkish Airlines will offer exclusive nonstop flights between Denver and Istanbul, departing from DIA every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, as per the airline’s booking records. Starting July 9, an additional weekly flight on Sundays will be introduced.

With Turkish Airlines’ service, Denver will become the 14th U.S. city with direct flights to Turkey, marking Turkish Airlines as the 26th airline operating at Denver’s airport.

Largest Airport in the US

DIA holds the title of the largest airport in the United States, spanning 53 square miles of land. It stands among the busiest airports globally, with a staggering 77 million passengers passing through its gates in 2023, a notable increase from 69 million in 2019.

The airport boasts connections to 217 destinations, with a predominant focus on domestic travel. However, international air travel has been on the rise, with over 4 million travelers recorded in 2023, marking a significant 21% surge from 2022.

DIA now facilitates nonstop international flights to 31 airports across 17 countries. Notably, recent additions include nonstop flights to Dublin, Ireland on Aer Lingus (EI), commencing from May 17.

Additionally, Colorado-based travelers can access major global hubs such as London, Paris, Zurich, Reykjavik, Munich, Frankfurt, and Tokyo, as well as numerous cities in Mexico and Central America via nonstop flights.
