Tyson Foods CFO Suspended 'Immediately’ After DWI, Second Alcohol Related Arrest In Two Years

Tyson’s Chief Financial Officer was suspended this week after he was arrested for driving while intoxicated earlier in the week, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal.

It’s not the first trouble the CFO, John R. Tyson, has been in recently. As the Journal notes, about a year and a half ago Tyson was found asleep in the wrong house and arrested as a result.

He said at the time he was going to seek counseling for alcohol usage.

This week the arrest came at the hands of the University of Arkansas police. Tyson was booked at the Washington County Detention Center in northwest Arkansas and then released 9 hours later, the report says.

He was suspended as CFO „immediately” and was replaced by Curt Calaway, a senior finance executive at the company.

Recall, we wrote back in November 2022 about Tyson’s first arrest.

When police arrived and tried to wake Tyson up, he could not verbally respond and attempted to fall back asleep after briefly sitting up.

According to the police report, his breath reeked of alcohol and his movements appeared 'sluggish and uncoordinated.’

He was arrested for Criminal Trespass and Public Intoxication, and booked into the Washington County Detention Center where he was released Sunday evening.

Tyson was appointed as CFO on October 2, 2022. We’re guessing this second infraction could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back with the company’s board of directors.

But then again, with a last name like 'Tyson’ working at 'Tyson Foods’, anything’s possible.
