CHICAGO- United Airlines (UA), based in Chicago, is enhancing its renowned ice cream sundae service with a new, limited-time offering: the “United Polaris x Tillamook Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sundae.”
This delightful sundae is available now through July 31, exclusively for passengers flying United Polaris business class on international long-haul flights.
United Ice Cream Sundae
United says that the sundae is inspired by the seasonal popularity of strawberries, which are trending in matcha lattes and even as a makeup inspiration, reported TPG.
In this collaboration, United has provided its flight attendants with detailed instructions for creating the ideal strawberry shortcake sundae. The recipe includes:
- One scoop of Tillamook strawberry ice cream
- Diced shortcake
- Strawberry compote
- Biscoff crumbles
- Freshly made whipped cream
Since the sundaes are assembled at your seat, you can customize the toppings to your liking. United’s other plated desserts and the signature fruit and cheese plate will also remain available as post-dinner alternatives.
Serving ice cream sundaes at the end of a business-class meal is a well-established tradition among U.S. airlines.
Other US Airlines Sundae
For years, American Airlines (AA) has partnered with Haagen Dazs to offer delicious sundaes in the sky. Unlike United, American’s crew prepares the sundaes in the galley based on your order, without using a sundae cart.
Delta Air Lines (DL) also provides ice cream in the business-class cabin on long-haul flights, though the selection frequently changes, and traditional sundaes are not always available.
Furthermore, United serves ice cream in the Premium Plus cabin on long-haul flights, but it does not include the signature sundae service there.
