CHICAGO- United Airlines (UA) has made updates to its schedule, planning to launch to new flights between George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston and José María Córdova International Airport (MDE) in Medellin, Colombia.
Furthermore, the Chicago-based carrier is planning to deploy Boeing 777 from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
United 777 on Chicago-FLL Route
Well, first thing first, United Airlines currently operates 3-4 daily flights between Chicago and Fort Lauderdale with mix of Boeing 737 MAX and NGs.
Ishrion Aviation reported that Star Alliance-member plans to replace 737s with Boeing 777s from December 19 to January 6. with turnaround time of 90 minutes. This move comes as Christmas weeks are one of the busiest for travel in the country.
Here’s the ORD-FLL Flight Schedule:
- Flight UA1775: Departs from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) at 10:45 AM, arrives at Fort Lauderdale (FLL) at 2:58 PM.
- Flight UA403: Departs from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) at 4:25 PM, arrives at Chicago O’Hare (ORD) at 6:47 PM.

Houston to Medellin Flights
In a separate development, the Major US carrier has revealed its plans to launch non-stop flights between Houston and Medellin from November 13.
United Airlines will deploy Boeing 737 MAX 8 to serve this new sector. Here’s the flight schedule in local time:
- Flight UA1675: Departs Houston (IAH) at 4:29 PM, arrives in Medellín (MDE) at 10:05 PM.
- Flight UA1676: Departs Medellín (MDE) at 10:45 AM, arrives in Houston (IAH) at 2:38 PM.
There is specific reason to choose the 1675 as flight number for service to Medellin. It’s on November 2, 1675, Queen Consort Mariana of Austria established the “Town of Our Lady of Candelaria of Medellín” in the Aná region. This area, now the central zone of the city, marked the first official use of the name “Medellín”.
Furthermore, the flights are getting launched in November of this year, which also coincide with the founded month.
