Well, the flight VS41 pilot told passengers that the aircraft is safe and there is no decompression. Virgin Spokesperson reported that the windshield has multiple layers. The outer layer that received some minor cracks is nonstructural and wear resistant.

According to Flight Radar 24, the Virgin Atlantic flight VS41 took off from London at 4:39 PM UTC. After being airborne for almost 10 hours and 15 minutes, the flight landed safely at San Francisco at 2:54 AM UTC.

The flight is operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, registered as G-VCRU. Further, the aircraft is 8.8-year-old and is powered by Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines.

Well Boeing 787 Dreamliners are always in news for windshield crack.

Earlier in February 2024, American Airlines (AA) flight AA94 from New York (JFK) to Madrid (MAD), Spain made emergency landing in Boston (BOS) due to windshield crack.

Due to a “maintenance issue,” Boeing 777-200, which operated the AA flight from the US to Madrid, had to land in Boston, as confirmed by the airline in a statement to The NY Post.

Passengers were provided with overnight hotel accommodations, and a replacement aircraft departed for Madrid in afternoon that day.
