GURUGRAM- IndiGo (6E), India’s largest airline, is solidifying its long-term trajectory by enhancing its fleet by adding wide-body aircraft (Airbus A350s). Since its establishment in 2006, IndiGo has steadily fortified its position and is now charting a course towards becoming a prominent global aviation entity.

IndiGo has committed to acquiring 30 Firm A350-900 aircraft, marking a significant stride towards broadening its reach and expanding its network. With connectivity from various Indian metropolitan cities, IndiGo will extend its reach to destinations worldwide.

These aircraft will be equipped with Rolls Royce’s Trent XWB engine, known for its exceptional performance capabilities. The combination of the aircraft’s mission capability and the efficiency of the Trent XWB engine will provide IndiGo with unparalleled flexibility as it embarks on the next phase of its journey, catering to the evolving needs of Indian customers and the nation as a whole.

Presently, IndiGo operates a fleet of over 350 aircraft. In June 2023, IndiGo made history by placing the largest single aircraft order ever recorded, with Airbus comprising 500 aircraft.

Consequently, the outstanding order book for Airbus A320 Family aircraft now approaches nearly 1,000 units, all slated for delivery well into the next decade. This extensive order book for IndiGo encompasses a variety of aircraft models, including A320neo, A321neo, and A321 XLR.

This latest order signifies a remarkable milestone in the strategic partnership between IndiGo and Airbus, elevating their relationship to unprecedented levels in terms of scope, breadth, and magnitude. Moreover, it marks the inception of a promising and enduring alliance between IndiGo and Rolls Royce.

The specific configuration of the newly ordered aircraft will be determined later, with deliveries anticipated to commence from 2027 onwards. Aside from the confirmed order for 30 A350-900 aircraft, IndiGo retains Purchase Rights for an additional 70 Airbus A350 Family aircraft, providing flexibility for potential future requirements under specific conditions.

Global Vision 2030

In the year 2023, IndiGo proudly served 100 million customers, symbolizing its pivotal role in propelling our nation forward. As one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines, this latest order will further empower IndiGo to reinforce its upward trajectory.
