787-10 Debut
Korean Air introduced its first Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner with its inaugural flight took off on July 25, 2024, from Incheon to Tokyo Narita. It deploys this aircraft on flights KE703 and KE704.
The 787-10 features a 68.3-meter fuselage, 5 meters longer than the 787-9 model. This extension increases passenger and cargo capacity by 15 percent, although it reduces the maximum range to 11,175 kilometers, 1,400 kilometers less than its predecessor.
Korean Air received the aircraft, registered as HL8515, in Charleston on July 20, 2024. The two-month-old plane is powered by GEnX-1B engines. The carrier plans to acquire 20 Boeing 787-10 aircraft by 2027.
The new 787-10 accommodates 325 passengers, with 36 Prestige Class and 289 economy seats. Korean Air unveils “Prestige Suites 2.0,” an upgraded business class offering that incorporates traditional Korean elements such as “Jogakbo” patchwork.
The interior design combines cream colors inspired by Joseon Dynasty porcelain with gold accents reminiscent of brassware. Charcoal and black shades with blue tints add stability to the overall aesthetic.
Prestige Suites 2.0 prioritizes passenger privacy, with each seat functioning as an independent space featuring an open-top design. Korean Air departs from its traditional light blue color scheme, opting for deep brown Prestige Class seats in the 787-10.
The new Prestige Class seats fully recline to 180 degrees, creating a flat bed. These seats measure 198 cm in length, with a 117 cm pitch and 53 cm width, maximizing passenger comfort and personal space.
