MUMBAI- The best carrier in the world, Singapore Airlines (SQ) has replaced its Airbus A350 aircraft with a Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner on one of its Singapore (SIN)-Mumbai (BOM), India flight route.

Singapore Airlines Mumbai Aircraft Swap
According to Utkarsh, Singapore Airlines has replaced flagship A350 serving flight SQ422/421 with another flagship aircraft, the outstretched Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
As an avid spotter, he said, ” I don’t know how long the Dreamliner will operate this route, or if the A350 will eventually return. It presents a golden opportunity for aviation enthusiasts and frequent flyers to experience the Dreamliner 787-10.”
According to Flight schedule, the Singapore Airlines operates two daily flights between Singapore and Mumbai. The following is schedule of flight (morning departure) that is currently served by 787-10 aircraft:
- Flight SQ422 departs from Singapore Changi Airport at 7:40 AM and arrives at Mumbai International Airport at 10:30 AM after flying for four hours and 50 minutes and covering a distance of 3,920 KM (2435 Miles).
- The return Flight SQ421 took off from Mumbai at 11:45 AM (Turnaround time of one hour and 15 minutes) and lands in Singapore at 7:50 AM after being airborne for around five hours and 35 minutes.
Note: All times mentioned above is local time.
Premium Replacement
With the swap of A350 by 787-10, Singaporean carrier will offer 30 more seats and is expected to save more on fuel as 787-10 RR engines are more fuel efficient than those of A350-900s.
If we talk about seating configurations, Airbus A350 comes with three different layouts but it used to operate 303-seats aircraft having 40 flat-bed Business Class and 263 economy seats aircraft.
While Boeing 787-10 currently serving the SIN-BOM sector has 337 seats including 36 Business class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, which ensures direct aisle access for each passenger. Further, 301 economy seats in a standard 3-3-3 layout.
Utkarsh give tips regarding seat selection, and he wrote, “avoid row 16 (Business Class), as these seats lack windows according to Singapore Airlines’ seat map”.
Club Vistara members can gain new redemption options with the switch, enabling them to book 787-10 flights using their accumulated points.
Singapore Airlines has a fleet of 26 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft with an average of 4.2-year-old.
Apart from this, Singapore Airlines also operates A380 on second daily flight to Mumbai. In 2025, from 28 July– 31 August the airline plans to replace A380s with Boeing 777-300ER.
