DELHI- Tata Vistara Airlines (UK) flight UK27, traveling from Mumbai (BOM) to Frankfurt (FRA), diverted to Erzurum Airport (ERZ), Turkey on Friday due to a Bomb Threat. The aircraft landed safely at 19:05 local time.
The security issue led to diversion after the crew found a bomb threat note on tissue paper. All passengers and crew are safe.
Vistara Flight Bomb Threat
Vistara alerted relevant authorities and is cooperating with security agencies for mandatory checks. The airline prioritizes the safety and security of customers, crew, and aircraft.
If security checks reveal a hoax, the flight will continue to Frankfurt.
A senior pilot suggests conducting a handwriting analysis to identify the source of the security concern.
The pilot notes that such diversions inconvenience passengers, incur significant costs for airlines, and disrupt flight schedules.
Aviation experts on X reported the Vistara Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner emitted a “7700 Squawk” signal. This universal transponder code indicates an aircraft emergency.
The 7700 code alerts Air Traffic Control (ATC) of situations requiring immediate attention. It enables rapid communication between aircraft and ground control during emergencies.

Well, this is not the first time, earlier on June 2, 2024, a Vistara Airlines flight from Paris to Mumbai received a bomb threat. The threat arrived via message to the Tata Group-backed Indian Full-Service Carrier operating a Boeing 787.
According to an Aviation A2Z source, the security authorities and personnel at Mumbai Airport were alerted. After the aircraft touched down in Mumbai, it was taken to the isolation bay for inspection.
Further, Air India (AI) flight AI471 from Delhi to Visakhapatnam received a bomb threat on September 3, 2024. The flight landed safely at Visakhapatnam Airport with 107 passengers.
Airport security teams conducted a comprehensive search upon arrival. Passengers disembarked to allow for a thorough inspection of the aircraft, cargo, and personal belongings.
Visakhapatnam Airport Director S Raja Reddy confirmed the threat as a hoax after rigorous scrutiny. Officials found no suspicious items or explosives on board.
Subsequently, On September 1, 2024, IndiGo flight 6E7308, traveling from Jabalpur to Hyderabad, diverted to Nagpur due to a bomb threat. The airline confirmed all passengers remained safe.
The ATR72 aircraft, registered as VT-IRL, landed safely in Nagpur after receiving the threat. Authorities initiated emergency protocols upon arrival.
Passengers evacuated the aircraft as a precautionary measure. Security teams conducted thorough inspections of the plane and luggage.
