Today, IATA’s AGM in Dubai, announced Delhi, India as location and IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) as host airline for next year’s 81st AGM in 2025.

After 42 years, the IATA AGM return to India comes at a very appropriate time with the global rise of India and Indian aviation. India is emerging as one of the world’s largest and fastest growing civil aviation markets. Over the past 18 years, it has been IndiGo giving wings to the nation, by connecting people and aspirations. This recognition now is truly a very proud moment for all of us at IndiGo.

Personally, I am delighted and honored to serve as the Chairman of IATA’s Board of Governors, supporting IATA in its mission to lead, represent and serve the global airline industry. Together with the industry, we will work towards promoting aviation as a force for good and the freedom to travel – for which India is a true poster child – as well as towards making the airline industry more safe, diverse, equitable, inclusive and also more sustainable, creating positive change for generations to come.

The event is being held in the UAE for the first time and is hosted by UAE’s flag carrier Emirates (EK). Over 1,500 participants, including industry leaders, government officials, and media, are attending the global meet.

The World Air Transport Summit (WATS) will follow the AGM with a comprehensive program addressing critical aviation issues.

“The commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 will be a top agenda item at the 80th IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit. IATA will explore solutions to accelerate progress, particularly in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and carbon removals. will also review our progress on safety, financial sustainability, and other key industry topics. We must address these challenges so that all stakeholders, including governments, understand what airlines need to connect people and economies safely, efficiently, and sustainably,” said Walsh.
