Wheels Up, the fourth-largest U.S. charter and fractional operator, reported no operational impacts. They worked closely with Delta Air Lines (DL), their largest shareholder, to support affected customers. Delta faced 652 cancellations and 913 delayed flights.

Flexjet, the second-largest private jet operator in the U.S., maintained uninterrupted flight schedules and accommodated last-minute flight requests from owners due to the outage.

FlyExclusive, the fifth-largest U.S. charter, and fractional operator, preemptively increased staffing to manage potential disruptions. CEO Jim Segrave reported no significant issues as of midday.

According to CEO Matt Liotta, HondaJet operator Volato had not experienced any impact, reported Forbes.

Despite the current stability in private jet operations, industry experts anticipate some effects later in the day and over the weekend. The contrast between commercial airline disruptions and private jet resilience highlights the adaptability of private aviation during widespread system failures.

The outage’s impact on broadcasters and global airline operations underscores the vulnerability of interconnected systems in modern aviation.

Private jet operators’ ability to maintain operations demonstrates their flexibility and independence from larger air traffic management systems.

What about Others?

Fly Alliance, a top-20 charter and fractional operator, reports no delays. Magellan Jets, a Boston-based broker, sees increased inquiries from stranded commercial passengers.

Intrepid Jets founder Andrew VanderPloeg notes airlines struggle to rebook passengers before July 23. He warns of potential impacts on private aviation, citing a near-cancellation due to a flight attendant’s airline delay.

Aviation Portfolio CEO Craig Ross predicts challenges for private jet operators using airlines to transport crews. However, Flexjet counters this concern with their policy designating the first day of a pilot’s tour as a travel day.

The outage may extend aircraft downtime for those awaiting parts deliveries from FedEx and UPS.
